Heze Wuyi Building

The Wuyi Building is situated in the cultural center area where the east-west axis intersects in Heze’s urban planning. It lies to the north of Bayi Road, next to Yongchang Road and the planned central urban greenbelt to the south, and faces the Heze Grand Theater to the northwest. It was a major venue for the Sanda (Chinese kickboxing) competitions during the 11th National Games and is also an important modern comprehensive sports facility in the city. The project was designed by Shanghai CSCEC Architectural Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd. and constructed by Changchun Construction Engineering Group Co., Ltd. after winning the bid. The building features a “人” (human character) shaped design, reflecting the profound spirit of Chinese martial arts. It is both modern and innovative, embodying the “power and beauty” characteristics of sports architecture, while highlighting Heze’s identity as the “hometown of martial arts.”

The Wuyi Building has a construction area of 18,781 square meters and a height of 31.4 meters, with a projected budget of 160 million yuan. In addition to a 5,000-seat grandstand, the interior includes spaces for offices, meetings, training, press activities, athlete examination, and rest. It not only meets the needs of Sanda competitions but can also host a variety of other sports such as basketball, tennis, volleyball, badminton, and table tennis, along with their training. Furthermore, it provides suitable venues for large conferences, exhibitions, artistic performances, mass gatherings, and public fitness activities.
