Zijin City Ruins is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Introduction:

Located in Taojia Village, Tiejie Township, Xinjian County. It is an inner city to the east of the Tiejie Chicheng Ancient City ruins. The site is surrounded by earthen walls, 3 meters high and 5 meters wide at the base, shaped like a trapezoid. The ancient city measures 300 meters from north to south and 250 meters from east to west. The interior consists of uneven farmland and dry land, as well as a few modern cemeteries. Within a cultural deposit layer about 20–60 cm thick, artifacts such as sand-tempered stamped pottery shards and gray pottery shards were collected. The decorative patterns include checkered designs, basin patterns, net-like patterns, and rice-character motifs. Based on the appearance of the pottery fragments, the vessel types are inferred to include double-handled jars, pottery basins, bowls, jars, and gray pottery roof tiles stamped with animal patterns. According to artifact analysis and on-site investigation, this ancient city site is dated to the Han Dynasty. Local tombstone inscriptions refer to the area as “Zijin City.” In 1987, it was designated as a Jiangxi Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit.
