In recent years, many new structures have emerged across Taiwan, all embracing minimalist, tech-inspired architectural styles. With monochromatic color schemes and clean, simple lines, these futuristic buildings enhance the cityscape, offering eye-catching aesthetics. 1. National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, Southern Branch
Recently opened, the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, Southern Branch, features a predominantly white, pentagonal exterior in a minimalist design. Jointly created by architect Shih Chao-yung and Japan’s Shigeru Ban Architects, the building was planned by a Pritzker Architecture Prize laureate. Inspired by the flame tree, the pentagonal form symbolizes Tainan as a cultural landmark. Its vertically stacked exhibition spaces and large fractal-style roof define the museum's distinctive silhouette.

2. New Kaohsiung Station
With the full undergrounding of the Kaohsiung railway line at the end of 2018, a brand-new integrated station was created. The sleek all-white design and unique cloud-like ceiling are must-photograph spots for travelers. Those arriving in Kaohsiung by train are welcomed by this striking station right from the start.

The avant-garde exterior of Taiwan’s National Taiwan Normal University Museum of Art is eye-catching, featuring over 100 irregular triangular panels. Co-designed by Taiwanese architect Chen Sheng-chung and faculty from the university’s art department, it’s a green building that offers a completely different view from every angle—truly unique. Housing world-class works by renowned Taiwanese masters, both its exterior and collection establish the museum as an iconic art landmark in Taiwan.

4.National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying)
Kaohsiung’s new landmark “Weiwuying” is Taiwan’s largest cultural venue and Asia’s biggest single-theater structure. Its flowing design, inspired by sound waves and freeform white waves, is one of its most distinctive features. The smooth lines and all-white facade make every shot incredibly futuristic.
