New hiking and water routes completed in the Three Gorges area; historic painted cycling path officially opens

In its pursuit of becoming a low-carbon ecological destination where people can connect with water, scenery, and nature, New Taipei City has in recent years encouraged residents to ride bicycles, promoting the development of an environmentally friendly and energy-saving sustainable transportation system.Recently, a new cycling path and towing path were constructed from the Sanxia Arch Bridge to the Sanchongyong Bridge in the Sanxia District. By enhancing New Taipei City’s cycling trail recreation system, these routes connect various tourist attractions across the city. This development not only benefits cycling enthusiasts but also creates a new low-carbon ecological space for people to get close to water, scenery, and nature. The project has been completed and is now open to the public.

This section of the cycling path extends approximately 2 kilometers along the left bank of the Sanxia River, from the Sanxia Arch Bridge to the Sanchongyong Bridge. Through the connection of four cycling towing paths and two steel-frame cycling bridges, it successfully links the Old Sanxia District and the Sanxia Ancestral Temple with the newly built Sanchongyong Bridge area. This effectively connects regional tourism and recreational resources.In addition, to beautify the path, the city invited renowned mural artist Ji Yunyan to paint along the river embankment. Drawing inspiration from Sanxia’s culture and traditions, the murals depict shared memories of the area’s longtime residents, while also offering locals and visitors a new route to experience Sanxia’s local traditional culture and natural environment.
