A hidden fishing village gem of traditional townhouses along the coastal harbor, just a 15-minute bike ride away — Kyoto’s “Little Venice”

This “Kyoto’s Venice” is located in the Yoshihara district of Nishi-Maizuru, which has long been primarily focused on the fishing industry. To capture the nostalgic charm of seaside homes, it’s recommended to rent a bicycle from JR Nishi-Maizuru Station and cycle for about 15 to 20 minutes to reach Minazuki Bridge.

Looking from the left side of the bridge, you’ll find fishing boats neatly lined up or parked in orderly rows along the river, vibrantly showcasing the lively energy of the fishing village. Turn to the right, however, and you’ll discover an entirely different atmosphere. The calm river is dotted only with a few scattered boats, while the townhouses extend straight backward, creating a uniquely peaceful vibe that allows you to experience two distinct riverside worlds right from the bridge.
