Introduction:

Huanggu Tomb is located in Heshui Village, Taiping Township, Wanli District. The ancient tomb suffered significant damage on the eve of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and during the Cultural Revolution, with the burial chamber being robbed. What can be seen today is the state of the tomb after two restorations in 1993 and 1999. Area

The ancient tomb is grand and majestic in scale, situated in a valley south of Heshui Bridge. The valley resembles an armchair, facing east with the tomb positioned on it. There are over a hundred stone steps from the valley entrance to the front of the tomb, commonly known as the “Hundred-Step Golden Stairs.” At the front stands a four-pillar stone memorial archway, two pairs of flagpoles, and rows of stone statues including turtles, sheep, lions, horses, and stone officials (Wengzhong). The stone officials are slightly taller than humans and dressed in Qing Dynasty official attire. In front of the tomb is a sacrificial platform enclosed by a stone pillar railing. Huanggu Tomb is the largest above-ground imperial tomb in Jiangxi Province.
