Introduction:

Located at the junction east of Guanzui Township and west of Tieshe Township in Xinjian County. It lies within Chicheng Village (also known as Chian Mountain). The ancient city ruins are oval-shaped, stretching 3 km from north to south and 2 km from east to west, covering a total area of 6 square kilometers. Around the outer edge of the ancient city, there is a band-shaped accumulation of yellow earth, 8 to 10 meters wide, all in a trapezoidal shape. Outside the city, there is a dried-up moat that connects to the Tieshe River in the east and the old Hetang River in the west. Within this oval earthen city, at a depth of 2 meters from the base, there is a distinct layer of rubble and rope-patterned pottery fragments, 30 cm thick. Both areas form bands, with no other artifacts stratified above or below them. Inside the ancient city, centered around Chicheng Village, there are multiple clusters of Han Dynasty tombs scattered in the surrounding area. Some have Han bricks exposed on the surface, while others have been destroyed, leaving only fragmented bricks. Artifacts collected within the ancient city include gray clay pottery fragments and red clay pottery fragments, predominantly featuring rope patterns, with a small number showing cloud-and-thunder motifs. Most of the fragments come from tube tiles, with only a few pieces from jars or pots. Based on surveys and the analysis of unearthed pottery, it has been identified as dating back to the Han Dynasty. It was designated as a cultural heritage site under the protection of Xinjian County in 1984.
