Xixia GuaiShi Ridge is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

To the south of Xixia GuaiShi Ridge lies Xixia Lake. The scenic area is divided into six sections: Chaoyang Valley, Hugong Corridor, Purple Bamboo Slope, Dragon King Manor, Benti Ridge, and Liantian Rocks. The entire GuaiShi Ridge covers an area of approximately 2 square kilometers.

Nanchang Xixia GuaiShi Ridge is a mountainous scenic destination that combines hiking, sightseeing, fishing, accommodation, camping, and barbecuing. The area features an abundance of uniquely shaped rocks—over 40 rock formations and caves with vivid likenesses, such as "Mandarin Duck House," "Couple’s Bed," "Jade Rabbit Descending the Mountain," "Dolphin Gazing at the Sun," "Divine Turtle Entering the Sea," "Immortal Turtle Guarding the Pass," "Pillar of Heaven," "Hen Hatching Eggs," and "One-Line Sky Cave." Surrounded by fragrant flowers, birdsong, ivy-covered rocks, and bamboo sprouting between crevices, Xixia GuaiShi Ridge is an ideal spot for climbing, exploring, hiding, resting, photography, and more. Truly, “In GuaiShi Ridge, wonders abound, with hidden marvels to confound. Caves within caves open new skies, as time drifts chasing gods and highs.” The scenery of Mingyue Mountain lies in its natural beauty—vast seas of clouds, alpine lakes, and roaming macaques. Xixia GuaiShi Ridge boasts four wonders: “Startling cliffs, competing bizarre rocks, competing pines in vibrant hues, and floral tapestries.” The ridge is famed for its peaks, waterfalls, caves, and stones. Rolling mountains are dotted with peculiar rocks; wildflowers bloom and pines stand proudly. Birds and beasts thrive in every corner, while fragrant blooms and birdsongs fill the air. Stone paths covered in moss, cascading springs, and flying waterfalls create a heavenly atmosphere, earning it the reputation of being “Huangshan-like.” The stone clusters of Nanchang GuaiShi Ridge are located in Furong Peak’s rocky mountain area northeast of Xixia Lake, presenting a spectacular sight. The main attractions of Nanchang Xixia GuaiShi Ridge are divided into six parts: Chaoyang Valley, Hugong Corridor, Purple Bamboo Slope, Dragon King Manor, Benti Ridge, and Liantian Rocks. Over millions of years, various geological changes have given rise to these uniquely shaped rocks.

Although the scenic area is named Nanchang Xixia GuaiShi Ridge, the rocks themselves aren’t particularly strange—each one tells a story. Based on their shapes, they are nicknamed “Mandarin Duck House,” “Couple’s Bed,” “Jade Rabbit Descending the Mountain,” “Dolphin Gazing at the Moon,” “Divine Turtle Entering the Sea,” “Immortal Turtle Guarding the Pass,” “Pillar of Heaven,” “Hen Hatching Eggs,” “Waves Striking the Dragon Boat,” “Frog Calling Its Young,” “Rhinoceros Charging the Sky,” “Immortal Peach Stone,” “A Hair’s Breadth from Heaven,” and “One-Line Sky Cave”… Upon closer inspection, the rocks of GuaiShi Ridge are indeed remarkably lifelike.

Xixia GuaiShi Ridge offers different landscapes to enjoy throughout the four seasons. In spring, the mountains are covered in lush greenery; in summer, the springs provide refreshing coolness; in autumn, rice fields stretch as far as the eye can see; and in winter, snow weighs down the green bamboo—each season leaves visitors enchanted.

Xixia Town: [Overview] Xixia Town in Xinjian County is located in the northern suburbs of Nanchang City, about 20 kilometers from the city center. It lies at the heart of the Jiangxi Changjiu Industrial Corridor and is one of the five pilot towns in the corridor. In 1992, it was approved by the Nanchang Municipal People’s Government as the Xixia Tourism, Agriculture, and Landscape Development Zone. The town covers a total land area of approximately 80 square kilometers, comprising 15 administrative villages and 113 natural villages, with a total population of 21,000.
