Qingbiao Tongguan Memorial Archway

The Qingbiao Tongguan Memorial Archway is located on the north side of Duishang Village in Dianxia Town, approximately 16 kilometers southeast of Zhangshu City. This stone archway was erected in the fourth year of the Xianfeng reign during the Qing Dynasty (1854) by Huang Diheng, a supervised student, in compliance with an imperial decree to honor his mother, Li Shi, the wife of the scholar Huang Shishu. The archway is of a four-pillar, three-bay style, standing 8.3 meters tall and 8 meters wide, and is entirely constructed from bluestone. It comprises rectangular base stones, square pillars, strut stones, upper and lower lintels, flat panels, carved stone relief figures, and bracket sets. On its southern face, the lower section reads “Tribute to the Filial and Chaste Scholar Huang Shishu’s Wife Li”; the middle two square pillars feature couplets — the right one reads “A wild goose’s resolve guards the deep boudoir, her solitary dedication and bitter effort deserve praise for virtue,” and the left one reads “Imperial grace descends upon the village, her pure integrity and noble character forever engraved in stone”; the couplets on the two side pillars read, on the right, “The land connects to Songshan, nurturing her true nature,” and on the left, “The clear sky opens over the ridge, revealing her true conduct.” On its northern face, the upper section reads “Imperial Favor”; the center reads “Heart of the Moon at Zenith”; the lower section reads “Tribute to the Filial and Chaste Supervised Student Huang Shiheng’s Mother Li”; the middle two square pillars have couplets — the right one reads “A piece of ice-pure resolve, enduring wind and frost with lasting chastity,” and the left one reads “A thousand autumns of stone standing, its fame and virtue spread far and near”; the couplets on the two side pillars read, on the right, “The well water is calm, its bottom crystal clear,” and on the left, “The pine forest braves the cold, its resolve growing ever firmer.”

In July 2000, the People’s Government of Jiangxi Province designated the “Qingbiao Tongguan Memorial Archway” as a Provincial-Level Cultural Relics Protection Unit in the fourth batch.

Dianxia Town: Located in the southeast of Zhangshu City, Dianxia Town borders Fengcheng to the east and neighbors Xin’gan to the south. It gathers the beauty of these three regions, with the picturesque Menghu Lake adding to the town's charm. The Beijing-Kowloon Railway and National Highway 105, along with the Zhang-Dian Road, run through the area, while crisscrossing cement roads within the town form a fast and convenient transportation network. Dianxia Town covers a total area of 140 square kilometers, with a population of 19,000, including 17,000 agricultural residents. The arable land area is 31,000 mu, and forested land spans 90,000 mu, with a forest coverage rate of over 65%, ranking first among all towns in Zhangshu City.
