Stroll through the vibrant cosmos sea at Maokong's Flower Wonderland

Many still remember the breathtaking lupine seas that bloomed along the Maokong Camphor Tree Trail each spring. To offer a colorful landscape across the seasons, the Taipei City Government’s Bureau of Urban Development has extensively planted cosmos flowers in the fallow farmland next to the Camphor Tree Trail, reviving the Maokong Flower Wonderland.

Huang Liyuan, head of the Bureau of Urban Development, noted that in recent years, efforts have been made to coordinate with landowners along both sides of the Camphor Tree Trail to plant lupines in spring and cosmos in autumn as cover crops. When in full bloom, these flowers create a vibrant, ever-changing carpet along the trail. Cosmos flowers, which thrive in autumn and winter, are also highly resilient and serve as excellent natural fertilizers for restoring soil fertility.

The Camphor Tree Trail stretches approximately 1.1 kilometers and is a gentle, stair-free path. The Bureau of Urban Development has landscaped and beautified 1.5 hectares of abandoned farmland along the route, rotating different plants suited to seasonal blooms. This creates a dynamic color palette throughout the year. With autumn now here, the cosmos flowers are set to make their appearance—don’t miss your chance to hike up and enjoy the floral spectacle.
