The Taoyuan City Yangmei District Office has launched a 2-day, 1-night package tour for the “Yangmei Parent-Child Farm Experience Camp” this summer vacation. Through getting close to small-scale farmers and experiencing agriculture, the camp promotes local organic vegetables, flowers, rice, grass jelly, and Xiucai tea, among other agricultural specialties. Participants can also explore century-old trails, camphor trees, and historic sites in the area. Registration opens at 10 a.m. on the 7th.

The district office’s summer travel itinerary will take participants to explore the Hakka old house “Jiangxia Hall” in Yangmei, a 750-year-old camphor tree, and the Baojia Ancient Trail. They can also pick organic vegetables by hand and experience activities such as kiln firing for a taste of farm life.

Office staff noted that, under the user-pays principle, the program uses themes such as rural experiences, pond ecology, and farmer aesthetics to foster public appreciation and care for the environment. It also incorporates marketing via the Yangmei District Farmers’ Association’s social media platforms, and highlights local characteristics through grassroots creativity and community resources, allowing visitors from other counties to discover the beauty of Yangmei’s rural areas.

Office staff said they hope to collaborate with the farmers’ association to launch a young farmers’ cultural and creative market, support rural cultural creativity, and work with enterprises to expand sales channels for organic agricultural products. Local products such as rice, flowers, organic vegetables, and lowland tea will, through industry-academia-government cooperation, be used to develop souvenirs like grass jelly and dried mustard greens. Therefore, they hope this journey will help promote the high-quality agricultural specialties produced by Yangmei’s small-scale farmers nationwide.
