The Zhushan Trail in Wenshan District is known for its rural charm, featuring oxcarts, vintage-style bicycles, and barn pavilions. The lupines planted here are leguminous plants of the genus Lupinus, once used as green manure during farming off-seasons, also rich in rural character. Thanks to their long flower spikes, they have been cultivated into various vibrant colors through hybridization, now serving as eye-catching ornamental plants.
The Urban Development Bureau has gained considerable experience over the years in cultivating lupines. The Zhushan Trail also has mature bald cypress trees. From the warm hues of the bald cypresses at year’s end to the radiant glow of the lupines in early spring, the beautiful transformation of landscape colors makes this a highly worthwhile experience.
This year’s lupines bloomed in mid-January 2020, just in time for the Lunar New Year, making it a perfect time for a spring outing and nature walk here.
