As the Lunar New Year approaches, golden bell-like blooms have also quietly emerged. The entire Camphor Tree Trail in Maokong is covered with lush lupine seedlings, their layered buds already formed, waiting for the right moment to paint the hills of Maokong in brilliant golden hues, as if bringing good fortune for the new year’s start.

The Camphor Tree Trail in Wenshan District is gentle and easy to walk, with open surroundings and scenic views. Along the path, you’ll find charming rural-themed elements such as oxcarts, waterwheels, and bicycles. It’s quite delightful. Coinciding with the season of bald cypress trees, there are also scattered cherry blossoms that shimmer and drift with the wind. Strolling along the cool Camphor Tree Trail with the breeze, it’s a romantic and pleasant experience.

The lupine sea covers a total area of about 3,000 square meters, with most buds still tightly closed but some unable to wait for the New Year’s call, already poking out and swaying in the wind. They are expected to bloom during the Lunar New Year period. The graceful bald cypresses will set off the sea of golden bells, accented with pink cherry blossoms — a truly anticipated sight.
Lupines are still in bud, with some beginning to bloom.
To achieve sustainable balance between ecological preservation and economic development, after the winter tea harvest each year, lupines are planted alongside the Camphor Tree Trail by local tea farmers as a fallow crop. To visit and enjoy the flowers, consider using public transport such as MRT, buses, or YouBikes for a blissful journey of tea tasting and flower appreciation.
