The Ancient Bridge in Chenghu is a cultural heritage site protected at the Jiangxi Provincial level.

The Ancient Bridge in Chenghu, located in Chenghu Group, Taihe Village, Yicheng Town, Zhangshu City, has been designated as a cultural relic under the category of ancient architecture, making it the town’s first provincial-level protected site. This stone-beam and earthen-structured bridge stretches 35 meters in length and 1.8 meters in width. Built in the late Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, it boasts a history of over 320 years and remains an essential passageway for local villagers.

The Ancient Bridge in Chenghu was constructed using a composite of mountain sand, lime, glutinous rice, red clay soil, bluestone slabs, and solid timber. It spans 51.8 meters in length, 3 meters in width, and 9.6 meters in height, featuring seven arches and eight piers. Built in the late Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, the bridge has a history of over 320 years and serves as a vital route for villagers. On the opposite bank of the bridge lies the ancestral burial ground of Chenghu villagers, where approximately 200 ancient tombs from the Qing Dynasty can still be found.

The Zhangshu City Museum has designated a 200-meter protection zone around the Ancient Bridge in Chenghu, strictly prohibiting any construction, waste dumping, burning, blasting, drilling, or excavation within this area. Meanwhile, about 180 meters from the bridge stands the Songjia Ancient Bridge, built during the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty, which is a cultural heritage site protected at the Yichun Municipal level.
