Yangshan Pagoda

Yangshan Pagoda is a cultural relics protection unit of Lianhua County.

Yangshan Pagoda is an ancient architectural site from the Ming Dynasty and a county-level key cultural relics protection unit. It is located near Lukou Village in Lukou Town, County, Jiangxi Province, about 20 kilometers from the county seat and can be directly accessed via the provincial J (i’an) L (ianhua) Highway. Built in the 15th year of the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty (1585) and reconstructed in the 44th year of the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1705), the pagoda is 22.4 meters high, with a base circumference of 16.8 meters and a thickness of 1.4 meters. It has seven stories and eight sides, featuring a brick-and-wood structure with tightly stacked eaves, built using oil-lime bricks. The ground floor has a door facing southwest, inlaid with a stone tablet engraved with the four characters “仰山文塔” (Yangshan Literary Pagoda); the second floor bears a similar tablet inscribed with a praise poem for the pagoda. The top is covered with an alloy conical cover that still retains its luster despite centuries of weathering. A staircase inside the pagoda leads to the top floor. From the windows, one can enjoy panoramic views of the picturesque mountains and rivers, as well as the rustic charm of village homes with smoke rising from their chimneys. To this day, the pagoda remains well-preserved.
