Say goodbye to a sedentary life and enjoy the lotus-viewing fun in Guanyin

Lotus cultivation in Guanyin Township, Taoyuan County, has grown from just a few hectares in just a few years to dozens of hectares, making it a true homeland of lotuses, earning it the reputation of “Southern Baihe, Northern Guanyin.” Now in its 12th year, the two-month-long Taoyuan Lotus Season not only offers a rich array of creative lotus dishes but also features cultural and leisure travel activities related to lotuses. In addition, for those who enjoy cycling as a lifestyle, bicycle rental services are available among the various lotus gardens, allowing visitors to tour the lotus farms and gardens by bike.

This year’s lotus season activities also incorporate the craftsmanship of new immigrant mothers. The majority of foreign mothers in Taoyuan County come from Vietnam, and interestingly, the national flower of Vietnam is the lotus. These new immigrant mothers have specially prepared traditional foreign desserts such as poached buns and dehydrated Baba, using lotus seeds from Taoyuan’s lotus hometown as fillings, inviting the public to taste these foreign dishes infused with the essence of Taoyuan lotuses.

The “2010 Taoyuan Lotus Season” is jointly organized by Guanyin Township and Xinyi Township. During the lotus season, a static exhibition area for 14 farms is set up at the Taoyuan County Guanyin Township Farmers’ Association Visitor Service Center. Staff members are arranged daily to provide guided tours, serving as a convenient pre-trip information hub for visitors planning to explore Guanyin. The farms also offer Hakka cuisine and seasonal lotus feasts, fully satisfying your taste buds and filling your summer memories with the fragrant joy of lotus adventures.
