Must-photograph floral seas of elegance – 2017 Baihe Lotus Season

The transition between May and June marks early summer, a season when numerous floral seas burst into bloom, featuring flowers such as lupines, hydrangeas, and daylilies. A variety of vibrant blooms will gradually appear across Taiwan. Among the many competing flowers, the lotus stands out with its quality of rising unsullied from the mud, its graceful and elegant beauty making it one of the favorite muses for photography enthusiasts. Located in Baihe District, Tainan, there are expansive lotus ponds. The annual Lotus Season is a must-visit attraction for flower lovers, and this year’s event runs from May 6 to July 30. On May 21, the “Tainan Is Green – Come for the Lotus” 2017 Lohas Baihe Lotus Season event will be held at the Lianyuan Fragrant Water Lily Garden.

This year, the lotus fields cover approximately 300 hectares, with lotus cultivation taking place in 20 out of the 24 li (neighborhoods) across Baihe District, offering visitors lotus sights everywhere. The lotus fields remain mainly concentrated in the northern five li. Visitors can explore the lotus ponds by bicycle, venturing into areas such as Yufeng, Dazhu, Liantan, and Guang’an. Bicycle tours among the lotuses are the most popular activity during the season. In addition to photographing and admiring the blossoms, enjoying lotus seed meals, visitors can also cycle and cruise with the breeze, experiencing a diverse range of lotus-themed activities.
