Lotus cultivation in Guanyin Township, Taoyuan County, has expanded from just a few hectares to dozens of hectares in just a few years, making it a true hometown of lotuses, and even earning the reputation of “Baili in the south, Guanyin in the north.” Now in its 12th year, the Taoyuan Lotus Festival, spanning two months, not only features delicious and creative lotus-based cuisine but also offers a variety of cultural and leisure travel activities related to lotuses. Additionally, for those who enjoy cycling as a lifestyle, bicycle rental services are available between various lotus farms, allowing visitors to explore the lotus gardens and farms by bike.

This year’s lotus festival also incorporates the craftsmanship of immigrant mothers. The majority of foreign mothers in Taoyuan County come from Vietnam, and interestingly, the lotus is Vietnam’s national flower. These immigrant moms have specially prepared traditional foreign desserts such as bánh pía and dried baba, filled with lotus seeds sourced from Taoyuan County’s lotus homeland, inviting everyone to taste these international dishes infused with Taoyuan lotus flavors.
