The Chongyi County Cultural Relics Management Office was established in 1989. In October 2016, with the approval of the County Establishment Committee, the Chongyi County Museum was founded and the Cultural Relics Management Office was abolished. The Chongyi County Museum is a state-owned comprehensive museum and a fully funded public institution. It has an approved staffing quota of 10 positions, with currently 6 permanent staff members on duty and 4 contract employees. The museum building began construction in 2015, opened its exhibitions in 2017, and officially opened to the public in January 2018. The museum covers a total construction area of 6,769 square meters, including approximately 4,600 square meters for exhibition halls and 600 square meters for offices and storage areas. There are currently two permanent exhibitions: “Unity of Knowledge and Action – The Eternal Conscience” — an exhibition on the historical traces of Wang Yangming, and the Chongyi Nature and Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition.
