Sample both Alishan tea and coffee for just 999 NTD – Chiayi County’s new agri-tourism marketing campaign

Alishan is not only world-renowned for its high mountain oolong tea, but also produces coffee beans that have repeatedly won top awards across Taiwan and earned recognition from international specialty coffee rating websites. To allow travelers to experience the dedication of local farmers to their land, Chiayi County Government has partnered with Lion Travel to launch the “Exclusive Tea & Unmissable Coffee” all-night tour, with limited editions of six buses each. For just 999 NTD, you can enjoy either Alishan’s premium tea or coffee. The initiative aims to promote refined agri-tourism through thoughtfully designed tour packages, giving the public an in-depth taste of Chiayi County’s cultural charm.

Chiayi County produces approximately 1,596 metric tons of tea annually, ranking as the second-largest tea-producing region in Taiwan, and about 130 metric tons of coffee annually, making it the third-largest coffee-producing area. The mountainous terrain, frequent cloud cover, and significant day-night temperature variations contribute to the exceptional quality and rich flavor of its tea leaves and coffee beans, offering a lingering sweet aftertaste. To showcase a different side of Chiayi to the world, the Chiayi County Government has collaborated with tourism operators to launch themed tours focused on tea and coffee. These experiences aim to allow visitors to appreciate Chiayi’s beautiful landscapes through agricultural activities, witness the dedication of local farmers to their land, and savor the color, aroma, and taste of premium tea and coffee through their senses.

To let travelers experience the dedication of Chiayi’s local farmers to their land, the first batch of premium tea and coffee agri-tours is limited to six buses each. For just 999 NTD, participants can visit the filming location of Tea King and witness the tea-making process, or meet Taiwan’s coffee champion and “Alishan Coffee Prince” Fang Zhenglun at the 23.5°N latitude to experience the rich, aromatic coffee. Through carefully designed and packaged tours, refined agri-tourism is promoted, changing the conventional perception of Alishan travel. Beyond seeing the sunrise, sea of clouds, sunset, forest railway, and giant trees, visitors can now explore alternative and immersive ways to experience Alishan’s cultural richness.
