The 2017 "Stars Shine Over Yangming" China (Chongyi) Yangming Mountain 10,000-Person Health Hiking Conference was held...

The event was jointly organized by the Chongyi County People's Government, the Human Resources Development Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, and Huao Starry Sky, and co-hosted by the Chongyi County Sports Bureau, Jiangxi Zhangjiangyuan Tourism Development Co., Ltd., and Huao Outdoor.

At the opening ceremony, Xu Bin delivered a welcome speech, while Wang Jun and Deng Zhongping gave speeches respectively. Wang Libin, flag bearer of the Chinese delegation at the Los Angeles Olympics, on behalf of the outstanding athletes, read out the "National Fitness Volunteer Service Initiative." Wang Ping, Vice President of China Sports Press Group and Chairman of Huao Starry Sky, announced the start of the competition.

It was truly a gathering of stars and experts.

The hiking participants included sports enthusiasts from surrounding provinces and cities, as well as grassroots civil servants from various local sectors such as education, finance, culture, and health. Their participation served as a practical advocacy for a green, low-carbon lifestyle, radiating influence to promote actions such as building energy-saving government agencies, green households, green schools, green communities, and promoting green travel.

The champion went deep into the grassroots to promote the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress.

These champions, organized by the event hosts, also carried out voluntary service activities for national fitness. They went deep into the grassroots, cared about mass sports activities, led the trend of national fitness, and set an example. For instance, on12afternoon, they invited 19th CPC National Congress delegates Gong Lijiao and Meng Suping to give talks on the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress to grassroots party members and the public. They also invited outstanding athletes to visit families under targeted poverty alleviation programs for research and to conduct fitness guidance activities. Gong Lijiao, delegate to the 19th CPC National Congress and London World Athletics Championships gold medalist, said during her speech: “As a delegate to the 19th CPC National Congress, I listened to the report delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People with an incomparably excited heart. I felt both immense honor and a deep sense of responsibility. To extensively carry out national fitness activities and accelerate the development of a strong sporting nation, we must always remember our mission, train hard, fear no difficulties, keep forging ahead, and continue to achieve excellent results in competitions, demonstrating the spirit of Chinese sports. To spread the culture of leisure sports and promote the development of mass sports, I joined the leading walk of the hiking event, setting an example and contributing to the further integration of sports, culture, and tourism.”

This event is a practice of the call in the 19th CPC National Congress report to“"extensively carry out national fitness activities and accelerate the development of a strong sporting nation".”It not only showcased the excellent ecological and humanistic environment of Yangming Mountain, but also allowed the sports industry to ride the wave of tourism development and innovative integration.“Express Train”, enriching business formats, expanding influence, increasing benefits, and also bringing welfare to local residents. The Sports Science Research Institute of the General Administration of Sport of China brought its currently most advanced physical fitness monitoring vehicle to the event site, taking practical action to do good and deliver tangible benefits for grassroots communities. The fitness monitoring vehicle not only helps the public understand their current physical condition but also provides guidance for scientific fitness activities, enabling the role of physical fitness monitoring to“prevent problems before they arise”to be fully realized.

Interaction between champions and Chongyi sports enthusiasts

The champions also visited Chongyi Olympic Square and participated in activities divided into three groups: the first was a“Me and the Champions”basketball game held on the basketball court; the second was a tennis lesson with tennis class students (8-10years old) on the tennis court; and the third was a football lesson and fun competition on the football field. Among these, the opening ceremony of the Ganzhou Nanan Sifu Football Tournament was quite distinctive, and the kick-off ceremony involving the champions was very popular. After the interaction activities, the champions gave souvenirs to sports enthusiasts who had participated in the WeChat pre-event activities.

About Chongyi

Chongyi County was established in1517, named by the famous Ming Dynasty thinker, educator, writer, philosopher, military strategist, and synthesizer of the School of Mind, Wang Yangming, with the meaning of“upholding rites and righteousness”. Chongyi is an important practice site for Wang Yangming’s principles of“cultivating virtue, achieving merit, and articulating ideas”, the main birthplace of his School of Mind philosophy, and the key area where his academic thoughts matured. This year marks the 500th anniversary of the establishment of Chongyi County. Over these 500 years, the concepts of "extension of innate knowledge" and "the unity of knowledge and action" have been widely spread and deeply practiced here.
