Discover the legend of Dongshi this summer at the 2010 Chiayi County Sea Summer Festival
As August arrives during the summer vacation, seaside festival activities are still a must-have event. The "2010 Sea Summer Festival" hosted by Chiayi County runs from August 7 to August 15, taking place at Dongshi Fishermen’s Wharf and Budai Yacht Harbor. With the story of the "Legend of Dongshi" as its central theme, the event transforms Dongshi into a joyful and surprising wonderland, inviting the public to come and enjoy their summer vacation here.
The "2010 Sea Summer Festival: Legend of Dongshi" opens daily at 10 AM with exciting performances, including YOYO and puppet shows, the Parade of the Marshal Tien (San Tai Zi), Tsou ethnic group singing and dancing, as well as themed zones such as the YOYO Theme Pavilion, interactive games area, parent-child DIY crafting area, parent-child water play zone, creative market, beach volleyball tournaments, character-themed car activities, and agricultural and fishery specialty food fairs. Additionally, special events are held in celebration of Father’s Day and Valentine’s Day.
Over the nine-day event, four major evening themes are specially planned: “Rock Dongshi”, “Fun Dongshi”, “Love Dongshi”, and “Hot Dongshi”. They feature performances by popular artists such as FanFan, Ah Ben, Tseng Yu-cheng, Luo Shih-feng, Hsiang Hui-ling, Hsu Jia-ling, Shenmu & Tong, and Lien Yu-shih. On August 15, there will be exotic dance performances such as fire dancing and hula dancing. On August 7, 8, and 14, spectacular fireworks displays are not to be missed.
During the event period, visitors who complete the stamp activity at both Dongshi Fishermen’s Wharf and Budai Yacht Harbor can enter a lucky draw to win the grand prize—a pearl necklace. In the evening, “Sea Breeze Concerts” and “Sunset Concerts” are held by the docks and harbor, allowing visitors to enjoy a romantic summer afternoon by the sea.
