Four hikers from Kaohsiung City — three men and one woman — had planned to hike BaiGu Mountain on the 19th but changed their plans to "ShuiYang Forest" at the border of Chiayi and Nantou counties due to rain. Unexpectedly, Lin, a 33-year-old female hiker, suffered a dislocated left knee due to slippery conditions and was injured. Two of the men descended the mountain on their own yesterday. The Chiayi County Fire Bureau requested a helicopter rescue, but operations have been delayed due to weather conditions.

The four hikers set up camp at Giant Rock Campsite. After being alerted on the 19th, the Chiayi County Fire Bureau, together with eight rescuers from Nantou and forestry patrol officers, went to assess Lin’s injuries. On the 20th, six more rescuers were deployed. Two male hikers descended on their own and arrived at the Shanlinxi Parking Lot yesterday afternoon around 4 p.m.

The third batch of rescue personnel from the Chiayi County Fire Bureau set out on the morning of the 21st, advancing toward the campsite. They carried heavy equipment such as tools and machinery in preparation to clear bamboo and trees to assist helicopter identification and rescue efforts.

Chen Nanhe, captain of the Third Brigade of the Chiayi County Fire Bureau, stated that apart from Lin, who is unable to walk, the health condition of the two stranded individuals is stable. A helicopter rescue for Lin was originally planned for this morning, but due to weather conditions, hoisting is not feasible. If the helicopter cannot be used tomorrow morning, they plan to conduct a ground rescue to evacuate Lin.
