The Former Training Sites of the Shangbao Military Training is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Jiangxi Province.

The training site of the August 1st Uprising troops in Shangbao is located in Shangbao Village, Shangbao Township, Chongyi County.

In early November 1927, Zhu De, Chen Yi, and Wang Yuzhuo led the Nanchang Uprising troops — reorganized in Dayu as the “Fifth Column of the National Revolutionary Army,” consisting of the column headquarters and over 600 main forces — from Dayu into Shangbao, Chongyi, to conduct military training. This event is historically known as the “Shangbao Military Training.”

The Shangbao Military Training Sites include the Former Residence of Zhu De and Chen Yi in Shangbao – Wanhe Hall (former site of the Fifth Column Headquarters of the National Revolutionary Army), the Former Military Camp Site in Shuibei – Li Family Ancestral Hall, the Former Military Camp Site in Huangtuo – Xiao Wu Sima Residence, the Former Military Camp Site in Liantangwan – Wu Family Ancestral Hall, and the Former Military Training Ground Site – Liushu Dam, covering a total area of 5,725 square meters.

The Shangbao Military Training Sites hold significant historical and revolutionary heritage value for the study of China’s revolutionary history and the development of its military. In September 2006, they were included in the Ganzhou City Inventory of Immovable Cultural Heritage Sites. In May 2009, they were designated as cultural heritage sites at the county level in Chongyi County.

Shangbao Township: a township under the jurisdiction of Chongyi County. It is one of the county's main bases for timber, bamboo, and grain production. Established as the Shangbao People's Commune in 1958, it was reorganized as a township in 1984. Located in the western part of the county, the township borders the Zhuguang Mountain Range to the west and adjoins Guidong County of Hunan Province. The township government is seated in Shangbao Market, 29 kilometers from the county seat. It covers an area of 147 square kilometers with a population of 12,000. The Hengshang Highway connects it to the county town. The township administers 12 village committees: Meikeng, Jiazi, Shangbao, Nanliu, Baishui, Chishui, Zhuxi, Yuzhuang, Lianghe, Zhengjing, Junyuan, and Nuanshui.
