Location: Gucang Village, Qinqjiang Town, Shicheng County

The former residence is a civilian house belonging to the Xiong family, featuring a memorial archway-style gate, brick-wood-earth structure, facing south, with a gable and hip roof. It is divided into front and rear halls, measuring 11.75 meters in width and 21.15 meters in depth, with a total of 14 wing rooms and side houses. There is a courtyard in front, covering an area of 378.3 square meters.

On March 7, 1929, Comrades Mao Zedong and Zhu De led the Fourth Red Army on their way from Guangchang to southern and western Jiangxi during their advance into southern Jiangxi and western Fujian. This was their first visit to Shicheng, and they stayed here. On the day the Fourth Red Army entered Shicheng, a mass meeting of laboring people was held in Gucang Village, calling on the working masses to unite, carry out armed struggle, establish a red political power, expand the red base areas, and crush the enemy's encirclement campaigns. It played a significant positive role in the establishment of the red political power in Shicheng.

The former residence is a historical witness to the revolutionary practice of a great leader. Its preservation is of great significance for studying Mao Zedong’s revolutionary activities and the revolutionary history of the people of Shicheng. In March 2018, it was announced as part of the sixth batch of cultural relic protection units of Jiangxi Province.
