Affected by cold air, Shicheng in Wuyuan, Jiangxi is about to kick off its maple viewing season, which is expected to begin in early November. To provide a better experience for tourists, Jiangxi Wuyuan Tourism Co., Ltd. began renovating the walking trails at China’s most popular maple-viewing spot, Shicheng, in September this year.

The renovation of the Shicheng walking trails not only widened the paths but also added many new branches, making it easier for visitors to reach various scenic spots and photography locations. Existing viewpoints have been repaired and reinforced, and new ones have been added in open areas, allowing visitors to admire Huizhou-style houses surrounded by towering maple trees and the red foliage-covered landscape of Shicheng.
Shicheng in Wuyuan is an iconic destination featuring Huizhou architecture and autumn maple leaves. In autumn, the maple leaves, morning mist, and frost intermingle with the white-walled, black-tiled ancient Huizhou buildings and vast maple forests, presenting a unique traditional village scenery.
One recommended route for maple viewing is an over ten-kilometer-long ancient post road at the east end of the village. The mountain path, paved with bluestone slabs, is lined with woods full of maple trees of varying sizes. In late autumn, the mountains are covered in a sea of red, making it a paradise for hikers and photography enthusiasts.
Zhan Bin, brand manager of Jiangxi Wuyuan Tourism Co., Ltd., said that after the Frost’s Descent solar term, affected by cold air, Shicheng is expected to enter this year’s maple viewing season in early November and last until mid-December.
