Shanghai, Oct. 31, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Yesterday, 3M, a global diversified science and innovation company, in partnership with the Green Travel Foundation, organized the “Yeah Run. Shine Different” urban safety night run at the Xuhui Riverside Green Space in Shanghai. As 3M’s first safety night run, the event attracted approximately 150 enthusiastic participants, including well-known running groups in Shanghai, night running enthusiasts, and 3M China employees. The night run had no rankings or speed competitions, aiming to promote public safety during night runs. It called on running enthusiasts to uphold healthy lifestyles while paying more attention to the safety of urban night running and enhancing personal safety awareness.

Everyone geared up as 3M’s first urban safety night run was about to begin

Notably, 3M’s reflective materials played a significant role in this night run. Utilizing high-refractive-index glass bead retroreflection technology, 3M’s reflective materials create an exceptionally bright appearance to those nearby, thereby improving visibility in poor nighttime conditions or emergencies and enhancing overall safety. These features also greatly increased the safety level of the night run. In the future, 3M will continue to innovate, striving to provide more safety products for people pursuing healthy lifestyles.

Moreover, throughout the preparation process for this event, the China Association for NGO Cooperation’s Green Travel Foundation offered substantial support to 3M. Mr. Liu Zhe, Executive Director of the Green Travel Foundation, stated: “We have always been committed to promoting scientific fitness, encouraging low-carbon living, and green travel. Therefore, we are very pleased to see more and more people participating in night running. At the same time, we hope everyone can better protect themselves and pay more attention to safety during exercise. Here, we call on more companies like 3M, which value corporate social responsibility, to contribute to the safety of public green travel.”

This night run was specially held at the Xuhui Riverside Green Space, once one of the selected sections of the Shanghai International Marathon and widely recognized as the most beautiful running spot in Shanghai. The course spanned 4.5 kilometers. To ensure participants could run safely and enjoyably, 3M made comprehensive preparations in advance. Not only did it provide all participants with custom-designed reflective night running apparel and wristbands to enhance night run safety, but it also invited professional fitness coaches to lead participants in thorough warm-ups before the run to prevent unnecessary sports injuries. As the starting gun fired, runners clad in colorful night running outfits dashed from the starting line, cheering and racing with the autumn breeze. Along the route, 3M staff were stationed with glow-in-the-dark mileage signs and safety indicators to guide and cheer on the runners. Ultimately, the night run concluded successfully amid laughter and joy.
