Yucao Catholic Church is a municipal-level cultural heritage site in Ma'anshan.

Catholic Church: Located on West Street, Yucao Town, Hanshan County. It dates back to the Republican era.

On June 5, 2015, Yucao Catholic Church was designated as part of the fifth batch of municipal-level cultural heritage protection units in Ma'anshan.

Protection zone: 10 meters beyond the structure itself; construction control zone: 20 meters beyond the structure itself.

Yucao Town: Yucao Town was established during the Northern and Southern Dynasties, dating back nearly 1,500 years. Around the year 530 AD, Emperor Wu of the Liang Dynasty in the Southern Dynasties sent Hou Jing, a general from the Eastern Wei, to lead troops across the Yangtze River and develop this once-barren land, naming it “Liaohuazhou.” During the Three Kingdoms period, Cao Cao stationed troops here while leading a campaign against the Kingdom of Wu. To facilitate troop movement and transport of provisions, he ordered the digging of the Caohe Canal. During the Ming Dynasty’s Chenghua era, the town got its name from the canal.
