Yaojia Mountain Site

The Yaojia Mountain Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Xiangshan County.

The Yaojia Mountain Site was discovered on February 25, 1991. It is distributed across an entire small hill, mainly on the southern slope of Xishan Yantou to the north of a simple road west of Yaojia Mountain Village, Dancheng Town, with the Tashan Site located about 0.5 kilometers to the west. Several surveys and explorations have been conducted, roughly defining its extent. Its nature is similar to that of the Tashan Site. Certain signs suggest a close relationship with the Tashan Site, indicating that it might be an eastern extension of the Tashan Site, yet maintaining relative independence. As such, its full significance awaits future archaeological excavation. For our county, which has relatively remote locations, this site is truly precious. Like the Tashan Site, it is a cultural asset we can take pride in, as well as a shared treasure of humanity. It heralds promising prospects for the study of China’s ancient civilization within our county.
