On the final countdown to 2018, if you'd rather not squeeze through the crowds at the New Year's concert, opt to head up high and watch the full fireworks show over Taipei 101. And when it comes to a vantage point with complete facilities and a comfortable environment, Xiangshan (Elephant Mountain) is unbeatable.

In recent years, the Xiangshan Trail has become the top choice for both domestic and international netizens to hike up and capture views of Taipei’s cityscape and Taipei 101, making it an ideal spot to watch the New Year’s Eve fireworks and light show.
This year, Xiangshan has updated its signage, making the routes clearer. Additionally, eight new Xiangshan-themed benches have been added, along with safe handrails along the trail. Thoughtful signage, photography platforms, and direct drinking water fountains ensure a comfortable and safe hike. There are six great viewpoints along the way including the Photographer’s Platform, Six Giant Rocks, and the Photography Platform.
Getting to Xiangshan is very convenient. You can take the Taipei Metro Tamsui-Xinyi Line to Xiangshan Station, Exit 2, and follow the trail signs to the entrance. Alternatively, scan the QR code on the sign for navigation directly to the Xiangshan Trail entrance. Exit 3 also has YouBike facilities. All Xiangshan Trail facilities are for public use—please do not fix tripods to railings in any way before your hike.
