Yanchang Song Imperial Palace

The Yanchang Song Imperial Palace is a cultural relic protection unit of Xiangshan County.

The Yanchang Song Imperial Palace is located at No. 31, Yanchang Old Street, Shipu Town, Xiangshan County. Its exact date of construction is unknown. The existing structure dates back to the mid-Qing Dynasty and consists of a rear section, a main hall, and two wing rooms. It features a brick-and-wood structure with a flush gable roof. Apart from the stage, the building is largely well-preserved. The main hall has five bays and a depth of eight rafters, with sturdy materials used. The beam-frame structure and column bases are quite distinctive. The beams and brackets are exquisitely carved, and the stone carvings feature smooth lines—rare within the county—which demonstrate a high level of architectural craftsmanship. Legend has it that this building was constructed in memory of Emperor Zhao Bing of the Southern Song Dynasty. It holds rich cultural significance, and the preservation and restoration of the Song Imperial Palace plays a special role in enriching the historical and cultural heritage of Shipu, a renowned historic town. On October 30, 2007, it was announced as a Cultural Relic Protection Unit of Xiangshan County in the sixth batch.
