Exhibition Hall on the Crimes Committed by Japanese Invading Troops in Xiangshan

The Exhibition Hall on the Crimes Committed by Japanese Invading Troops in Xiangshan is located southwest of Shanghuang Village, Maoyang Village, Maoyang Township, covering a total area of 5,333 square meters. The site was established in 1995 and consists of two parts: the “Exhibition Hall on the Crimes Committed by Japanese Invading Troops in Xiangshan” and the ruins of the “Mass Grave.”

The “Mass Grave” site covers an area of 1,998 square meters. Within it, the “Never Forget Monument” stands inside a hexagonal pavilion, facing north. The front of the monument bears three gilded relief characters reading “Never Forget Monument,” inscribed by Comrade Tie Ying, former member of the Central Advisory Commission and former Secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee. The back of the monument features an inscription recounting the crimes committed by the invading troops in Maoyang.

The “Exhibition Hall on the Crimes Committed by Japanese Invading Troops in Xiangshan” is the main structure of the site, built on the ruins of the “Japanese Reserve Unit Headquarters.” The exhibition hall is a garden-style building, with its name inscribed by Comrade Tie Ying. Upon entering the gate, the meeting room is on the right and the administrative office on the left. A brick-and-concrete constructed octagonal square pillar stands nearby, 8 meters tall, engraved with the date when Japanese troops invaded Xiangshan. The main entrance on the southern side of the wall bears the words “3,000 Victims.”

Inside the exhibition hall, over 200 photos reflecting the wartime period in Xiangshan are displayed. These images are divided into six sections, comprehensively presenting the true historical picture of Xiangshan’s anti-Japanese struggle and exposing the brutal atrocities committed by the Japanese invading forces.
