Shipu Old Street

Shipu Old Street, named for its rare collection of ancient Ming and Qing fishing village architecture across the country. Built during the Ming Dynasty and also known as Middle Street, it developed further in the Qing Dynasty and has a history of over 600 years. Originally a bustling commercial street, it once housed more than 100 shops including silk and cloth stores, shoe shops, copperware shops, and pharmacies. It was composed of Bowl Shop Street, Fujian Street, Middle Street, Back Street, and Yanchang Street. The renovated Shipu Old Street retains the architectural style of the Ming and Qing periods. The five “fireproof gates” built across the street, the former site of the Shipu Patrol Office, and the old shops on both sides all hold high ornamental and research value.

Ticket Information:

The admission fee to visit Shipu Old Street is 60 RMB, which covers entry to various venues within the old street. However, if you’re just strolling around without entering any attractions, no ticket is required.

Transportation

Take a bus from Ningbo South Bus Station to Shipu, available from 6:30 to 19:10 roughly every half hour, at a fare of 41.5 RMB. Then take Bus No. 1 or 2 to reach the ancient town.
