Wuzhen Guan Di Temple
Wuzhen Guan Di Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.
Guan Yu is one of the Martial God of Wealth. People, especially merchants, admire his loyalty and integrity, hoping that he will serve as their patron saint for wealth and prosperity.
During the Ming and Qing dynasties, Wuzhen was a thriving commercial center, with many affluent merchants residing in the town. Moreover, as it is located at the intersection of two provinces and three prefectures, trade was highly active, and many merchants passed through Wuzhen on business. Although Wuzhen does not have a direct historical connection with Guan Yu, the Guan Di Temple in Xizha sees a steady stream of worshippers due to its strategic location at a key land and water junction.
The temple enshrines a bronze statue of Guan Yu, the God of War, which is majestic and imposing. Flanking Guan Yu are his generals Zhou Cang and Guan Ping. Zhou Cang served as Guan Yu’s guard, routinely holding his iconic Green Dragon Crescent Blade. He was loyal and devoted, serving as both warrior and attendant. Guan Ping was Guan Yu’s adopted son, whom he took under his wing during his military campaigns. Together, they fought in numerous battles and achieved remarkable military feats.
