Special Train Heads to Taihang Mountains, Unforgettable Trip to Baoquan
At 13:00 on May 17, over 20 buses drove into Henan’s Baoquan Scenic Area, where the Taohuaping Parking Lot erupted in drums and gongs to welcome more than a thousand tourists from Hubei aboard the “Xinxiang·Baoquan” Tourist Special Train. In Baoquan, visitors will experience the charm of emerald waters and crimson mountains, as well as the breathtaking largest waterfall cluster in the Central Plains.
During the welcome ceremony held for “Xinxiang·Baoquan” tourists, Zhang Ziqiang, Executive Vice President of Baoquan Scenic Area, first extended a warm welcome to the visitors from Hubei. He said that Baoquan boasts not only beautiful mountains and waters but also beautiful people. With over ten thousand tourists visiting today, he hoped everyone could appreciate the unique scenery of the Taihang Mountains, feel the sincerity and enthusiasm of the Baoquan people, and create the most beautiful travel memories. He also invited everyone to return during the Dragon Boat Festival this year to participate in the first Baoquan Dragon Boat Race.
Located in Xinxiang City, Henan Province, Baoquan Scenic Area features the densest and most spectacular waterfalls in the Taihang Mountain range, often referred to as the “Thousand Waterfalls Valley of China.” On the 17th, with clear skies and pleasant temperatures, equipment at the scenic site measured 86,000 negative oxygen ions per cubic centimeter of air at 15:00 — 86 times the concentration typically found in urban areas.
Upon entering the scenic area, visitors were amazed by the stunning sights: a pond every five steps, a waterfall every ten. Majestic crimson cliffs and endless sapphire waters stretched before them. In front of the 187-meter-high Feilong Waterfall, the area’s tallest, one visitor remarked that they had initially been skeptical when their travel agency mentioned such a place where mountain and water blend with cascading waterfalls in the heart of the Central Plains. “But after seeing it, I found it truly gorgeous and spectacular — it fully lives up to the title of the largest waterfall cluster in the Central Plains!”
Walking along the scenic trails, an elderly visitor commented that Baoquan’s crimson mountains are elegant and its waters serene, while the walking paths are gentle and comfortable with few steep stone steps, making it perfect for seniors and ideal for upcoming family trips during the summer holiday.
Younger visitors also found plenty of excitement — the Qingyun Ladder plank walkways and glass viewing platforms offer thrilling experiences. Standing on the glass viewing platform above the Yuelong Waterfall, tourists gasped in delight as they looked down at the surging falls below.
During their visit, many tourists recalled Baoquan’s CCTV ad slogan: “Discover the Beauty of China – The Hidden Paradise of Baoquan,” saying that they had come to explore this hidden gem and witness the beauty of Baoquan for themselves.
According to reports, the “Xinxiang·Baoquan” Tourist Special Train is the first-ever train from Hubei received by the scenic area since it opened. The train arrived in Xinxiang on May 16, and visitors toured several attractions in the city, with Baoquan as the grand finale. Though they only spent a short day amidst Baoquan’s cascading waters and soaring cliffs, every tourist felt the area’s beauty — the mountains are beautiful, the waters are beautiful, and the people are even more so.
The launch of the “Xinxiang·Baoquan” Tourist Special Train marks a milestone for Baoquan Scenic Area in fully tapping into the Hubei market. During this period of moderate temperatures and peak scenery, Baoquan collaborated with Yong’an International Travel Agency to launch the special train tour product, attracting over ten thousand Hubei tourists. Mr. Fang from Yong’an International Travel Agency stated that three more “Baoquan” special trains and “Baoquan” bus tour groups are already planned for this year, expected to bring over twenty thousand Hubei travelers to witness the emerald waters and crimson mountains of Baoquan.
