To welcome the arrival of summer vacation, Yunlin County Government has guided local communities to develop 15 rural tour routes across mountainous, coastal, and plains areas, all available year-round. Seasonal farm experiences such as radish-pulling, peanut-harvesting, and soy sauce-making are also offered.
Yunlin is a major agricultural production base in Taiwan. Drawing on three years of positive feedback, the county’s Cultural Affairs Bureau has introduced these rural experience tours this summer—perfect for family outings while subtly promoting food and agriculture education, showcasing the charm of rural life in depth.
The 15 rural tours include one in Douliu titled “Flowering Plum Forest”; three in Huwei—“Deep Rural Culture Along Beixi,” “Tasteful Delights in Juetou,” and “Happy Peanut Farming Experience”; one in Dapi Township called “Century-Old Sanxiu Showcasing Its Charm”; four in Liutong Township—“Leisurely Farm Strolls at Zizitong Heart,” “Stories Beneath Shuzaijiao,” “Colorful Countryside Painting Tour,” and “Classic Garlic-Scented Mayuan.”
One in Xiluo Township titled “Xiluo Leisure Agriculture Experience”; one in Sihhu Township titled “Eco Experience in a Dreamy Fishing Village”; two in Kouhu Township—“Summer Fun: A Culinary Trend Journey” and “2018 Sea Breeze Micro Trips Series”; one in Tuku Township titled “A Day as a Little Farmer”; and a joint route across Ershui Township, Bajiaoting Township, and Taihsi Township called “Climbing Yunlin’s Heights: An e-Journey Together.”
Chen Mei-yan, deputy director of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, said that this year’s farm experiences have been specially developed in collaboration with local communities and farmers’ associations. Last year’s rural tours sold out instantly, and this year’s 15 routes are designed to satisfy visitors from outside the county.
