Chen Juanhong was born on February 6, 1969, in Tongxiang City, Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province. She was the first person of Chinese descent to step from the runway onto the global stage. She won the title of “World Supermodel” at the 12th World Model Contest and is considered a pioneer in China’s modeling industry.
When she was young, Chen Juanhong’s tall stature and strong willpower helped her join the local basketball team. Although her basketball career didn’t bring her much fame, the experience honed this fair-skinned beauty. After leaving the basketball team, she briefly worked in a textile factory before beginning her modeling career.
In 1991, the second China Super Model Contest was held in Shenzhen. Chen Juanhong participated and claimed the championship, also winning both the “Best Stage Presence Award” and the “Best Photogenic Award,” instantly becoming China’s “super model.” In July 1992, she competed in the 12th World Model Contest, reaching the final eight and earning the title of “World Supermodel,” which brought her widespread fame.
