Dongzha Jiangnan Folk Museum in Wuzhen

• A microcosm of Wuzhen's folk customs from the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China era, where you can experience the life of old Jiangnan.

Attraction Introduction

The Jiangnan Folk Museum is located next to the Jiangnan Hundred Beds Museum and was originally the residence of the prominent Jin family in Dongzha. Today, it is divided into the Clothing Customs Hall, Festival Customs Hall, Wedding Customs Hall, and Longevity Customs Hall, displaying the folk customs of Wuzhen from the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China period through wax figures, artifacts, and photographs.

Each exhibition hall is not very large, but they comprehensively document various aspects of Jiangnan life during that era, covering weddings, funerals, and other traditions. You can see the styles of clothing people wore in the past, the bridal sedan chairs and dowries used in weddings, as well as traditional birthday offerings for the elderly such as peaches, calligraphy and paintings, and longevity noodles.
