Huayanshan
Introduction: Located in the villages of Xishang and Shantun in the northwest of Toutu Town, on the western outskirts of Huangyan, bordering Linhai to the north, this area belongs to the low mountain and hilly region at the upper reaches of Yuantong Stream, a tributary of the Yongning River. It is part of the western-to-eastern extension of the Kuocang Mountain range. The scenic area spans approximately 11.52 square kilometers, with over 95% of it being mountainous. The area has a subtropical monsoon climate, characterized by mild and moist weather, abundant rainfall, and moderate sunshine, with an average annual temperature of around 17°C. The geological structure is mainly faulted, supplemented by gentle folds and basin formations. The exposed strata are predominantly Jurassic volcanic rocks, while the faulted basins consist of Cretaceous continental sedimentary rocks. The scenic area features vegetation such as Masson pine, Chinese fir, sweet gum, camphor tree, red nanmu, and mountain alder, along with numerous ferns and grass species. Additionally, the area is rich in wildlife, including first-class nationally protected species such as the yellow-bellied tragopan, clouded leopard, black muntjac, and white-naped crane, as well as rare giant bats unique to China and red bats never before documented in international specimen records. The Huayanshan Scenic Area boasts undulating mountains and meandering streams. Transportation: Take bus 209 from Huangyan.
