2015 Shanghai Citizens' Sports Games & Skoda HEROES China Cycling Series - Shanghai Loop - Lingang New City Stage Held
Jointly organized by the Shanghai Municipal Sports Bureau, Shanghai Sports Federation, Shanghai Cycling Association, and Shanghai Sports Development Foundation, the 2015 Shanghai Citizens' Sports Games & 2015 Skoda HEROES China Cycling Series - Shanghai Loop - Lingang New City Stage concluded on April 25 by the picturesque Dishui Lake. The “Spring Ride at Dishui Lake” themed cycling event and the “Kids on the Move: Family Cycling Day” series of family activities were also held by the lake, providing outdoor enthusiasts with a great weekend getaway. This stage was also the second leg of this year’s Shanghai Loop cycling series, attracting nearly 500 elite domestic and international teams and riders, as well as over 200 outdoor sports fans to join in the on-site activities. The exciting races and activities drew many local citizens to watch.
Teams Display Perfect Teamwork & Jersey Battles Heat Up
Compared to the previous stage — the 2015 Skoda HEROES China Cycling Series - Shanghai Loop - Jiading New City Stage — the Lingang New City stage featured a mainly straight and U-turn course with wide and flat roads, where intense sprints among riders made for even more thrilling competition. In particular, riders had to navigate two 180-degree hairpin turns in each lap, making these corners some of the most exciting parts of the race.
After a day of fierce racing, winners in all categories were crowned. In addition to generous prize money, each category also offered custom-designed jerseys sponsored by professional cycling gear brand Sedna. Following the last stage, the gap in points among teams was not wide, but after today’s competition, the overall standings for each category were finalized, and new owners claimed the colorful jerseys. Enjoy Flowers, Seascapes, and Adorable Kids in Stylish Outfits – Multiple Activities Make for a Fun Weekend
Aside from the competitive group races, the organizers prepared a variety of interactive activities for outdoor lovers. The “Spring Ride at Dishui Lake” themed cycling tour included key landmarks of Lingang New City such as Dishui Lake and Nanhui Cape Sea View Park. In Lingang, visitors can enjoy coastal views and blooming spring flowers, savor farm-style cuisine, and experience rare urban activities such as horseback riding, archery, fishing, and farming.
The “Kids on the Move: Family Cycling Day” series of family activities provided a perfect weekend spot for active families. The Parent-Child Obstacle Relay Race gave little riders their first taste of an obstacle course while also offering a great chance to build family teamwork. The thoughtfully designed obstacle course was full of fun, allowing children to experience courage, composure, judgment, and the joy of overcoming challenges. Meanwhile, the Parent-Child Science Cycling Tour let kids and parents embark on a joyful spring ride together. Children could unleash their creativity and imagination by dressing up in fun outfits, explore the mysterious and ancient secrets of shipbuilding at the China Maritime Museum, and take part in the fun and challenging activity of building model boats, passing on the simple yet brilliant maritime culture.
The Skoda HEROES China Cycling Series is not only a competitive arena for riders but also a gathering for outdoor sports fans. At the main venue, the organizers set up a “Track Side Yard” for outdoor enthusiasts to interact and socialize, along with a market fair where numerous outdoor brands showcased their unique products. Meanwhile, the Shanghai Dishui Lake Crowne Plaza provided delicious food for attendees.
The exciting races and diverse interactive activities received high praise from outdoor sports enthusiasts. The event organizer, Olympian Sports, stated that they hope the ongoing cycling series and activities will offer citizens a healthy way to spend their weekends. It is reported that on May 30, the China Cycling Series - Shanghai Loop - Anting Stage will be held at the Shanghai Automobile Exhibition Park, along with a fun hiking event and a series of family-friendly activities for Children’s Day.
