Former Site of the Gushun Farmers' Association (Zhennhai Palace)

The former site of the Gushun Farmers' Association is located at Zhennhai Palace in Wuyi Village, Damaiyu Subdistrict.

In April 1928, Pan Jun, a member of the Communist Party of China, was sent by Zheng Xin, special commissioner of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and secretary of the CPC Yongjia County Committee, to establish party organizations in Yuhuan. With Gushun as his operating base, he engaged in revolutionary activities and founded the Gushun Farmers' Association at Zhennhai Palace. He recruited active members of the association into the Communist Party, established the first grassroots Party branch in Yuhuan County, formed a Red Guards unit, and organized farmers to resist rents and fight for their rights. The rise of the farmers’ movement alarmed local landlords, who reported the association to the Nationalist county government and employed various means to undermine the movement. In late October, the Nationalist county government, together with the Provincial Defense Force, launched a “suppression campaign” against the Gushun Farmers' Association, forcing its disbandment.

Zhennhai Palace, commonly known as the “Goddess Palace,” serves as a religious site for local residents and occasionally hosts traditional opera performances. After undergoing renovation by villagers, its original structure has largely changed. It now consists of a two-story brick-and-wood building facing south with a northern orientation, backed by green hills and fronted by a river. Residential houses lie to its east and west, and the building covers a floor area of 960 square meters.
