The former site of the Leqing Bay maritime guerrilla base (monument) is a classic red tourism destination.

The former site of the Leqing Bay maritime guerrilla base is located in Haishan Township, and the monument stands on Daqing Island.

In June 1945, in response to the revolutionary struggle situation, the Central Ou’bei County Committee of the Chinese Communist Party formed the Maritime Brigade of the Yongle People’s Anti-Japanese Self-Defense Guerrilla Corps. Led by Brigade Commander and Political Commissar Zheng Meixin, they advanced into Leqing Bay and established a maritime guerrilla base centered on Daqing Island. During four years of arduous revolutionary struggle, the maritime brigade operated across areas including Yuhuan, Wenling, Leqing, Dongtou, Ruian, and the coastal regions of Fujian, resisting enemy forces, combating sea bandits, raising funds, and steadily growing in strength. During the Liberation War, it repelled multiple “pacification” campaigns by the Kuomintang army, actively supported the land-based revolutionary struggles in southern Zhejiang, and contributed to the liberation of Yuhuan and Wenling.

The former site of the Leqing Bay maritime guerrilla base extends south to Lupu, north to Wenling, east to Chumen, and west toward Leqing. The base was located on Daqing Island, one of over 30 islands in Leqing Bay, covering an area of approximately 0.8 square kilometers. In July 1995, the Monument to the Leqing Bay Maritime Guerrilla Base was erected on Daqing Island. The main monument bears an inscription by Liu Feng, former Chairman of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, while the four characters “Enlightening Future Generations” on the monument base were written by Jiang Hua, former President of the Supreme People’s Court. In August 1997, the former Daqing Primary School was converted into a memorial hall. At the same time, the Monument to the Leqing Bay Maritime Guerrilla Base was designated as a Yuhuan County Patriotic Education Base. In February 2005, it was recognized as a Taizhou City Patriotic Education Base.
