The Young Hero Lin Senhuo Memorial Hall is a patriotic education base.

The Young Hero Lin Senhuo Memorial Hall is located on the campus of Lin Senhuo Primary School, at No. Jiefang South Road, Kanmen Subdistrict. Lin Senhuo (1933–1950) was born in Kanmen, Yuhuan. At the age of nine, he enrolled in Xitou Primary School in Kanmen, where he was a diligent and enthusiastic student with a particular love for drawing, woodcutting, and clay modeling. In April 1947, he was elected captain of the Kanmen Young Pioneers, became the leader of the Kanmen Children's Corps in 1948, and transferred to Kanmen Central Primary School in 1949. Influenced by revolutionary ideals, Lin took the initiative to establish a secret red library and distribute progressive books. He also participated in underground party efforts to combat illegal grain smuggling, keeping watch over unlawful merchants day and night. He assisted the underground party and the militia in delivering intelligence, putting up posters, distributing leaflets, transporting military supplies, scouting enemy movements, and delivering warning letters.

In the early days after the liberation of Yuhuan, he led the children’s corps in creating and performing literary and artistic programs to promote the Party’s policies. When the Nationalist army repeatedly harassed Kanmen, he helped the militia stand guard, guided troops, delivered food and tea, and passed along intelligence. On April 30, 1950, he joined the New Democratic Youth League of China. On November 20, when the Nationalist army launched a surprise attack on the county town and Kanmen from multiple directions, he helped the People’s Liberation Army cooks boil water and prepare meals. Unfortunately, he was shot and killed, at just 17 years old. Ding Shixiang, then Secretary of the CPC Yuhuan County Committee, led the people of the county in holding a grand memorial service for Lin Senhuo. The Yuhuan County Committee of the New Democratic Youth League of China called on all young people in the county to learn from Lin Senhuo. His deeds were included in elementary school textbooks at the time. On February 5, 1983, he was approved by the Ministry of Civil Affairs as a revolutionary martyr.

To commemorate Martyr Lin Senhuo, the local government renamed the small vegetable market alley where he once lived “Senhuo Lane.” In November 1983, the China Children’s Publishing House released a book titled Lin Senhuo. In March 1985, the Young Pioneers Work Committee of the Communist Youth League Central Committee and the Sichuan Children’s Publishing House jointly published The Biographies of Modern Chinese Young Heroes, listing Lin Senhuo as one of 13 modern young heroes in China. In September 1998, Zhejiang TV produced a TV series titled The Sea and the Boy depicting his heroic deeds. In the 1950s, the former Kanmen District Central Primary School (originally located at Yanxiatang at the northern foot of Diaocao Ridge) established a memorial room for Young Hero Lin Senhuo. In October 1987, Kang Keqing, then Chairwoman of the All-China Women’s Federation, inscribed a dedication for the statue of Young Hero Lin Senhuo. It was expanded again in 1995, transforming the memorial room into a memorial hall, with the title “Young Hero Lin Senhuo Memorial Hall” inscribed by a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. Due to demolition on Housha Street, the memorial hall was rebuilt at the new school campus in Kanmen Harbor and grandly opened on November 20, 2010.

The Young Hero Lin Senhuo Memorial Hall was designated as a Yuhuan County Patriotic Education Base in 1991, a Taizhou Municipal Patriotic Education Base in June 1995, and a Zhejiang Provincial Party History Education Base in January 2013.
