Yanqi Lake is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Yanqi Lake Tourist Scenic Area is located 8 kilometers from Huairou County. It gets its name because every spring, flocks of rare migratory birds such as wild geese and cranes come here to rest.

The lake area has a pleasant climate and pristine blue waters, making it perfect for water-based recreational activities and leisure getaways. Surrounded by mountains on three sides, to the north, the ranges stretch continuously with undulating peaks, and the Great Wall can be faintly seen among them. To the west lies Hongluo Temple, to the south stretches the boundless North China Plain, and to the east are Yuanbao Mountain and Jindeng Mountain. Hiking up the mountains offers sweeping views of the blue sky, clear waters, lush fields, and breathtaking scenery.

Yanqi Lake boasts ever-changing scenery throughout the four seasons. In early spring, wild geese glide and cranes dance, birds sing in chorus, flowers bloom vibrantly, and the area is full of vitality. In midsummer, the shimmering lake and emerald-green surroundings invite you to paddle through the water, offering a refreshing and enchanting experience. In autumn, the air is crisp and fragrant with the scent of fruits and flowers. In winter, the world is draped in silvery white, serene and hazy, like a poetic painting. The Yanqi Lake Tourist Area offers a full range of amusement facilities. Water activities include large passenger boats, painted pleasure boats, dragon boats, rowboats, pedal boats—each providing joyful experiences on the lake. Parasailing, motorboating, and speedboats are especially popular for their thrill and excitement. Other attractions like bumper cars, water slides, and mountain go-karts are novel and fun, suitable for visitors of all ages to enjoy.

There are over 30 hotels and restaurants around the lake area. The wooden cabins and Mongolian yurts within the park are fully equipped, comfortable, and luxurious, providing excellent accommodation and dining options for both domestic and international guests visiting Yanqi Lake for vacation and tourism.
