      The Mutianyu Great Wall is located inHuairou Districtof Beijing, 73 kilometers from downtown Beijing.      Yanqi Lake is a reservoir situated in Beitaishang Village in northern Huairou District, Beijing. It blocks the Yanqi River, borders the majestic Great Wall to the north, and lies against the boundless North China Plain to the south. With broad waters and crystal-clear lake surfaces, the lake is named after the flocks of wild geese that often come to rest here during spring and autumn. Since 1986, the Huairou District government has continuously invested in the area, developing a series of scenic areas that have now become a popular leisure and travel destination for Beijing residents. In 2000, it was rated as a National AAAA-level Scenic Area by the National Tourism Administration.
