According to rough estimates, on average, rescuing just one hiker requires the deployment of at least 14 police officers and 3 rescue vehicles.

Statistics show that the mountainous areas of Huairou have become a hotspot for hikers getting into trouble. Since 2011, the Huairou Public Security Sub-bureau has responded to 75 incidents of people being trapped while climbing “wild mountains” or “wild sections of the Great Wall,” rescuing a total of 206 individuals, 45 of whom were injured to varying degrees. The longest entrapment lasted 76 hours, with the hiker in critical condition upon rescue. In September alone this year, the Huairou Public Security Sub-bureau handled 4 rescue cases, saving 12 hikers in distress.
