Destination Introduction

Huairou in the suburbs of Beijing is the capital’s backyard garden. Within this garden lies the Longtanjian Natural Scenic Area, known for its beautiful water, mountains, and forests. The clear Bai River embraces it, and the majestic Yunmeng Mountain offers access to its main peak from here. The spectacular “Beijing Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon” is located within the scenic area, where you can also witness one of the most dangerous mountaintop roads in the Arctic-light zone.

Spring is the most beautiful season at Longtanjian. The sky is blue, the water is green, and the mountains and hills are covered with peach blossoms, apricot blossoms, azaleas, pear blossoms, horned violets, and dandelions. As one flower fades, another blooms, adorning the wilderness like a painting. Lush green grass, murmuring streams, and birdsong create a quintessential mountain vibe. During the month-long Spring Outing Festival, the scenic area management office hosts traditional events such as “Wild Spring Flower Photography,” “Mountain Climbing Competitions,” “Plant Your Own Tree,” and “Green the Wilderness, Trees Belong to You.”

The scenic area offers bonfires, picnics, unique log cabins, open-air karaoke, and farmhouse meals for visitors to stay, play, and dine.

Longtanjian has been voted one of the Top Ten Best Getaways in the Suburbs of Beijing by the Municipal Government’s Agricultural Work Committee, Beijing TV, and visitors. The No. 1 Drift in Northern Beijing is thrilling and exciting. Transportation Information

By car: Follow the Huai-Feng Road with clear signage. By bus: Take bus 936 from Dongzhimen to Baichazi Station, then transfer to a minibus for ten minutes. Every Saturday and Sunday, take the special “You 6” bus from in front of Xuanwumen Church to the Longtanjian Beijing No. 1 Drift route. Alternatively, take bus 936 from Dongzhimen to Baichazi Station and transfer to a minibus.
