Destination Introduction

The Ziyun Mountain Natural Scenic Area is located 20 kilometers from Huairou District and covers an area of over 2,000 acres, blending the wonder of Huangshan, the grandeur of Huashan, and the mystique of Emei.

The Ziyun Mountain Scenic Area gets its name from its unique microclimate—when clouds appear, rain follows, and after rainfall, rainbows paint the valley purple. The scenic area spans over 200 hectares, stretches 5 kilometers in length, has a highest peak at 900 meters above sea level, and an average elevation of 600 meters.

Wandering through Ziyun Mountain, you will be profoundly moved by the majestic power of nature, inspiring awe for life’s beauty and the preciousness of existence.

Location: Situated in Tuanshuling Village, Huabei Town, 20 kilometers north of Huairou District. It neighbors the Yougu Shen Tan and Yunmeng Mountain Scenic Areas to the north, and faces Qinglong Gorge and Yanqi Lake to the south.

Climate: Average seasonal temperature is 22–26°C, with a diurnal temperature variation of 10–16°C.

Overview: The Ziyun Mountain Natural Scenic Area is located within Huairou District and features over 30 natural attractions including peculiar peaks, strange rocks, and crystal-clear pools. The tinkling Tongtian River connects 88 magical pools. Iconic formations such as the Flying Stone, Goddess Peak, and Ziyun Peak—where a hundred immortals are said to gather—are strikingly lifelike.

The scenic area boasts towering peaks, rugged rocks, lush flowers and grasses, fluttering butterflies, and singing birds. The silent guardians of the emerald valley embody unwavering loyalty; the majestic stone pillars seem to recount the weight of history; the stone-carved Ji Gong, the centuries-old penguin couple, the heartbroken tiger descending the mountain after losing its mate, the jade-white Lotus Tuo, and the breathtaking Flying Stone—all are exquisitely crafted, vividly realistic. Take bus 936 from Dongzhimen or Tourist Route 17 from Xuanwumen directly; or take bus 916 to Huairou Station and transfer to a minibus. Entertainment

Activities in the scenic area include: swimming in natural springs, forest walks, hiking, exploring the wilderness, open-air dancing, bonfires, barbecues, fishing for rainbow trout, survival experiences, afforestation during the rainy season, and picking wild fruits—offering a taste of mountain wilderness.
