Liuhe Phoenix Mountain Park

Phoenix Mountain Park is located in the center of Xiongzhou Town, Liuhe District, bordered by Yan’an North Road to the east, the city moat along its southern and western edges, and Lin Yuan West Road to the northwest. It covers an area of 14 hectares, including 2.7 hectares of water surface. The park is named after the Phoenix Mountain within its grounds. The terrain features undulating landforms with hills, flatlands, ponds, and abundant trees. In the 35th year of the Republic of China (1946), the county government had planned to establish a park here but the project was not realized. In 1981, the county government decided to build Phoenix Mountain Park on the site of an existing nursery. In April of the following year, the Liuhe County Phoenix Mountain Park Management Office was established as a public institution under the leadership of the Xiongzhou Town Government. It shared office space and management with the town-run collective enterprise Liucheng Forestry and Fruit Farm—operating under two names but one team—and began the first phase of park construction, giving the park its initial shape. On October 1, 1983, Liuhe Phoenix Mountain Park officially opened to the public.

The park’s scenic areas include the Phoenix Mountain Spring Scenic Area, centered around the Phoenix Exhibition Hall; the Summer Scenic Area, featuring lotus ponds, corridors, and waterside pavilions; the Autumn Scenic Area, highlighted by the Eastern Cao Mountain grass hut; the Winter Scenic Area, characterized by cedar trees and bamboo groves on Western Cao Mountain; and the Activity Area, centered on the children’s playground, sparse woodland lawns, and a hundred-flower garden. These scenic zones are interconnected by garden paths, bridges, and corridors to form a cohesive whole.

The park’s service facilities have been gradually improved. The children’s playground spans 1,650 square meters and is equipped with slides, horizontal bars, swings, umbrella rides, merry-go-rounds, paddle boats, seesaws, electric cars, and mini trains. The pond offers rowboats and bumper boats. The south and east entrances feature ticket offices, souvenir shops, and photography services. The rest area includes a 500-square-meter teahouse that provides visitors with both hot and cold beverages. Every autumn, the chrysanthemum exhibition has become a regular event, and various exhibitions are also held periodically at the Phoenix Hall and Qiwu Gallery.
