Kaohsiung Liuhe BBQ Home – A 40-Year-Old Beloved Spot Where You Can Eat Well for Just NT$200

I’m sure many of you, like me, have been totally obsessed with the Yellow Rubber Duck this month. But after snapping photos of the duck, where can you find great food in Kaohsiung? This long-established BBQ joint that’s been running in Liuhe Night Market for over forty years has now relocated to a cozy storefront on LinSen Road.


A wide selection of ingredients is displayed at the counter so you can order whatever you’re in the mood for.



Next, I’ll recommend some of my favorite dishes. First up is the miso fish—the flavor of the fish reminds me a bit of Japan’s famous dish “Cod Shiroyaki.” The fish is incredibly flavorful, and the sweet miso really enhances the umami. It’s said that even the producer of TVBS’s “Foodie Guide” loves it.


My second favorite is the grilled intestines. The common issue with grilled intestines is either undercooked and chewy bits inside, or being too thin and burnt. But there are none of those problems here. No wonder it’s a 40-year-old veteran shop~~~ Every chef’s grilling skills are top-notch~~ Even tricky items like intestines are handled perfectly~~ Awesome!!


This dish is called grilled tofu. It’s not yuba (bean curd skin), but it tastes amazing!! Grilled oil tofu turned out to be surprisingly delicious.



Fourth place goes to the bursting sausage~~~ If you love sausages, you must try this one. Each sausage is just NT$30~~ Much cheaper than what you’d find in Taipei night markets, and the best part—they squirt juice when you bite into them!!!!


Grilled fish cake is also great~~ Though I think it would taste even better if it were cut a bit thicker!!


We had such a wonderful time eating together that day!!
